Street Lighting

Coronation Walk is a pavement leading on to housing just of Coronation Road. A number of residents have pointed to a problem with the pavenment. The problem is that Coronation Walk is pitch black at night. Having walked down the pavement at night, I walked into a wall. I have asked Six Town Housing to look at the problem and see if we could get a couple of lamp posts placed there. Hopefully this would also rid the walk of its gang problems as well.

Labour hyprocrisy

It always amuses me that Labour can have the brass neck to accuse the Conservatives not caring about Radcliffe. They have left the town in such a state after 21 years of labour inept ruling. Their inept handling of developers and not getting signatures on deals is probably the reason why we had been waiting for so long for promised developments under labour. Yet soon as we, the Conservatives, become in charge of Bury M.B.C Labour accuse us of deliberately putting contracts on hold. In truth Labour had not only not dealt properly with developers they were being short changed by them and this has meant we have had to deal with they mess. Seems a familiar story that, Conservatives Cleaning up after Labour.

Lowered curbs

We've had the curbstones lowered on the estate around Moss Shaw Way and Gingham Park. This was following complaints from disabledpeople that they were having difficulties leaving pavements. There are still a couple of hotspots on Coronation Road that need to be lowered and your Conservative team will be working to get this done.

Abbey Close

Abbey Close Tenants and Residents Association put in a bid for the cleaning of one of the back alleys. The Radcliffe Area Partnership granted some of the funding request but as some of the Land backed on to Land looked after by the Environmental Development services (EDS). John Slater our Radcliffe area coordinator will be showing the EDS round on Tuesday, so hopefully the Abbey Close TRA will get the extra £2,000 to complete the clean up.

Radcliffe Christmas Fun day

Yesterday was a great day out in Radcliffe town centre. The belly dancer and the brave singer who battled against the cold. I just wanted to send my thanks to everybody especially the staff at the Civic Hall and the Radcliffe Rotary club for their efforts on a great day.

Labour Hypocrisy

According to Daisy Johnston, my opponent from last year (The girl who stood in Holyrood the year before that now standing in Radcliffe East and who had the audacity to call me a carpet bagger.) our Tory candidate for Radcliffe East is wrong to complain about the Ivan Lewis's M.P taxpayer funded leaflets. Just getting over the laughter when she points to Ashcroft funding (well in Radcliffe we fund raised to pay for our Autumn and winter leaflets.) I just couldn't get over the fact that her letter is printed when the Leader of her party as acknowledged labour has been behaving illegally and the police are investigating the government for the second time in two years for illegal activities and if that isn't unprecedented enough, there is a strong possibility that for the second time ever (the first being Tony Blair) our Prime Minister will be questioned under caution. This from the whiter than white government.

Radcliffe Riverside

Well now Radcliffe Riverside is going to get built, despite the scaremongering by certain Labour M.Ps (cough Ivan Lewis). The 'total unnecessary' (according to Ivan Lewis and his paid staff, namely Cllr Campbell) review by the district auditor indeed found that the previous administration led by our glorious Cllr Campbell was actually undervaluing the land. This so called unnecessary revaluation has saved the Tax Payer £1.2 million pounds that under Cllr Campbell we wouldn't have. Put in Context that is an extra £1.2 million to spend on the people of the Borough of Bury, an extra £1.2 million that Labour did want us to find just to save the blushes of Cllr Campbell.

Lowered curbs

I reported the lack of lowered curbs around Gingham Park to Six town housing last week, within two hours I was phoned up to be told they actually hadn't thought about it and thus had not arranged anything to get funds for that work. However, they were to have a meeting later in the day to discuss funding for construction and repairs and this would be brought up to hopefully get funding so disabled people would be able to get lowered curbs to minimise discomfort to themselves and damage to their wheel chairs

Policing In Radcliffe North

I am happy to report that the anti social behaviour that has blighted the residents around the Fold Mill entrance (the official entrance) has been a lot quieter in the past few weeks. The police have extended their patrols in the Bradley fold/Railway walk in this area to make and this has resulted in one ASBO being given.

Setting the Record Straight

Just So everyone is clear. The Conservative group has never said the new Radcliffe Riverside School will never be built. in fact we are committed to buildiing it. We just proposed to look at the number of places the school accomadates. With falling Roll numbers and a tight budget it would be unfair to build a school which woul

Fold Mill An Update

Just a quick update for everyone. On Thursday evening I managed to get a temporary stop notice placed on the works at Fold Mill, Bradley Fold. As well as having a quick chat with the owner of Pennine Pet Products on Friday to remind him that a stop order had been placed on his works and that he had 21 days to apply for planning permission and would he kindly stop working (apart for replacing the land drains which we allowed so residents gardens would stop flooding). I also meet up with the residents, of Bradley Fold Cottages, on Friday and will be in constant contact to with Planning enforcement officer S Haworth to make sure he is keeps visiting the site to make sure huge engineering projects don't keep happening at Dorma. I will also discussing ways of stopping the HGVS using the narrow back road ( a public footpath)at the side of the Queens Hotel to access this mill at the back. When the original gates were made they were placed only for emergency access and egress. A point I hope to make to the Rights of Way Officer.

The Old Dorma Mill

One of the residents have pointed out that the old Dorma Mill seems to be getting a lot of new features and work done to it and planning permission does not seem to be given. I am going to ring up the planning department to get somebody to look at this.

I am also going to be further investigating the complaints of dumping on Farm Land behind some house at Bury Old Road/Arthur Lane Ainsworth. If anybody knows what is going there/who's tipping please feel free to drop me a totally confidential email and or phone call.

Bradley Fold Composting site

There will be a public consultation about the new recycling centre at the Bradley Fold Trading centre at four o'clock till eight o'clock Wednesday and Thursday at the Radcliffe Borough football club's ground. Information will be provided and it will be your chance to get questions answered and anything else you wish to get of you chest. You can also use this to actually make constructive sugestions. I do hope to see a large number of residents attend.
